Abstract

The Middle East is a historical-geographical region that includes territories of Western Asia, Europe (the portion of Turkey east of the Bosphorus Strait) and North Africa (Egypt) and, at times, the so-called Near East: Arabs, Persians and Turks make up the major ethnic groups by number of inhabitants with others groups that make up the entire area and the three main monotheistic religions (Christianity, Judaism and Islam) are which arose in this area. The Middle East is a very heterogeneous region since ethno-religious point of view. Arabic-speaking populations represent majorities significant in the Arabian Peninsula, as well as in Egypt, in Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Syria; large communities Arabic-speaking live in Israel and the southern regions of Iran and Turkey; they constitute a very heterogeneous group from an identity and religious point of view. In Lebanon, Christian communities coexist with Muslim ones. On the highlands of southern Syria and the Shnjf live the Druze, an ethno-religious group practicing a religion of Shiite Muslim derivation. Precisely from the characteristic "constitutional balance" ofvarious religions and Lebanon's "proximity to the Western world" have sprouted in me the interest and passion forthe historical-cultural study of thiswonderful country. Lebanon currently has five UNESCO World Heritage Sites foreducation, science and culture, four of which arewere designated in 1984 and the most recent was added in Lebanon_as well as many historical-tourist-religious places.I believe that it is a country that must develop the “tourism product” more, since it has all the areas morphologically suitable for any type of tourism.
